Web Uploader
To upload your photos without needing to download any additional software, head to the Photos » Galleries page, then, locate your gallery and select the Photos » Upload Photos (Web) menu option.
Selecting the Upload Photos (Web) option will take you to the Upload Photos page, where you can drag and drop your images into the image upload area or you can click the Click Here to Select Images button to select specific images from your computer.
Once the images have been added to the upload area, select a specific pricing sheet to associate your images with, and select the category that the images should be uploaded into. To upload into multiple categories at once select the Auto-detect Categories option from within the category drop list.
After you've selected the pricing sheet and a category for the images, clicking the Upload Selected Items button at the bottom of the page will start the image upload process.
Optional Upload Settings
There are a couple of options available to you for the images that you're uploading. The options function as follows:
- Skip Duplicates - The Skip Duplicates option instructs our system to skip any images that you're uploading that seem to already exist within your gallery. A "duplicate" is any image with the same name, that is found within the same category. Note: The images are not skipped during the upload process, but are instead uploaded and then discarded afterwards if they fit these criteria.
- Overwrite Duplicates - The Overwrite Duplicates option instructs our system to replace the existing images with the newly-uploaded duplicate images. A "duplicate" image is any image with the same name, that is found within the same category.
- Auto Rotate - The Auto Rotate option instructs our system to look for information within each image's meta-data to determine the proper image orientation. Note: This functionality works for most, but not all cameras and images. You may want to test it on a few images from your camera first before applying the setting to a large group of images.
Auto-detecting Categories
The "auto-detect categories" functionality allows you to organize a set of images on your computer before uploading them, and then drop them into the upload area to be processed all at once. It can be a little tricky to figure out how this works (or why it isn't working!), so here are a couple of pointers on it:
Yes, the categories will be detected.
If the "auto-detect categories" option is selected and a folder is dropped into the upload area, the images found within the folder (and its sub-folders) will be auto-sorted into similar categories within the gallery.
For example, you might have a folder called "Bryson Wedding", and within that folder you might have several other folders called "Reception", "Cake Cutting", etc. that contain your pre-sorted images. If you drop the "Bryson Wedding" folder into the upload area and select the "auto-detect categories" option, the "Reception" and "Cake Cutting" folders will automatically be created within the gallery and the images from within those folders will automatically be organized into those categories.
No, the categories will not be detected.
If the "auto-detect categories" option is selected and a file (or set of files) is dropped into the upload area, the folder names cannot be auto-detected for those files and the images will be placed within a generic "Photos" category within the gallery. In this situation we recommend selecting a specific category from the category drop list instead.
If the "auto-detect categories" option is selected and the "Click Here to Select Images" button is clicked, you will only able to select files (not folders). When a file is selected, the folder name cannot be auto-detected and the image will be placed within a generic "Photos" category within the gallery. In this situation we recommend selecting a specific category from the category drop list instead.
