By default, sales tax is displayed separately from the individual product pricing on your storefront. This is because without knowing the purchaser's shipping address (which is provided during the checkout process), the proper sales tax rate cannot generally be determined.
However, if there is a requirement where you live to combine the sales tax into your displayed product pricing, here is how you can enable that functionality:
Step 1: Click into the Selling » Prices, Shipping, Tax » Sales Tax page.
Step 2: Delete any existing sales tax rates that have previously been defined.
Step 3: Click the Begin Here button to define a new sales tax rate.
Step 4: Fill in the sales tax form by selecting "All Countries" from the Country selection area, and then provide the tax rate that you'd like to collect. Optionally, you can also select to charge sales tax on your shipping prices. Then, save your changes.
Step 5: After the tax form is saved, a new option labeled "Roll the sales tax into your displayed product pricing?" will be displayed at the top of the page. Enable that option.
Step 6: That's it! Once the option has been enabled, your product pricing will display will the sales tax included in the pricing.
Some Notes About This Functionality
Approximate Price
Because the final tax amount will be calculated off of the entire order total, the displayed individual product pricing is approximate (due to tax rounding). However, the correct order total will be displayed in the cart summary area and throughout the final checkout process before the order is placed.
For example, if your sales tax rate is set to 10.35% and a product is priced at $10, the displayed combined price for that item would be $11.04 ($10 + $1.035 tax). However, if a person orders two of these products, the final total will be $22.07 ($20 + $2.07 tax) instead of $22.08 ($11.04 x 2).
Order Receipt Pricing
The receipts that you and your customers will receive after each order is placed will display the product pricing and the calculated sales tax separately.
Non-USA Accounts Only
This functionality is not available for accounts based in the USA.
